To Do List

There is so much to do here in Mission Beach. The Pacific Ocean waves and Mission Bay, miles of boardwalk to cruise, SUP'ing, sailing, kayaking and so much more. All as you step out your front door of your vacation home. Bring your own equipment or pack light and rent it at near by rental shops that have everything for the beginner to the experienced.

THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOUR ARRIVAL

Mission Beach sits atop a sandbar that faces directly west. During the summer the surf is usually pretty small in the 1 to 3 foot range. The water temp is normally around 70 degrees, perfect for just your bathing suit. The water temp can be finicky though as someday's it might jump down to 65 degrees.
During the winter the water temp hovers around 58 to 62 degrees. A 3/2mm wetsuit is needed but nothing more except maybe booties if you have thin blood.

CLIMATE

TEMPERATURES
The air temp averages 70 degrees year round in the day but bring a sweatshirt because the nights can get chilly even in the summer. A heavy jacket will never be necessary here.
June half the time is the coldest month of the year because of "June gloom" while December can be the warmest month of the year. This is when San Diego has light offshore winds keeping everything warm, dry and sunny.
Mission Beach is usually 10 degrees warmer in the winter and 10 degrees cooler in the summer than inland San Diego. Shorts and flip-flops are highly recommended during any month.
ACTIVITIES, WATER
Mission Beach has every water-sport, day time activity possible. Surfing, body-boarding, sailing, wakeboarding, jet skiing, stand-up-paddling, snorkeling, diving, kayaking, fishing, wind-surfing, kite-boarding and even hydro jet-pack propulsion rides.
ACTIVITIES, LAND
If the thought of everyday dolphin sighting is too scary, don't panic, there's much to do on land and on the sand.
For around 5 bucks you can purchase sand castle tools for the kids, or for yourself. Shops all around Mission Beach have frisbee's, paddle-balls, horseshoes, etc you can purchase. They also have rentals for beach cruisers, skates, skateboards, roller-blades, volleyballs and much more.
There're already volleyball courts setup all throughout the beach.

MISSION BEACH ATTRACTIONS

Mission Bay is home to Belmont Park and the infamous Sea World and it's nightly firework display to be seen every night in the summer from anywhere in Mission Beach.
There's also boat rides aboard the Bahia Belle every half hour from the Bahia to the Catamaran hotel docks.
Just a short Uber drive away is the San Diego Zoo and Petco Park for a Padre game.

NIGHT LIFE

RESTAURANTS & SPORTS BARS

Places like  Rosaria Pizza have excellent pizza slices, two for 7 bucks that will fill you or dine out at Ms B's for some great Caribbean food. I could list tons more but I'll save that for another page.

For you sports addicts many of the restaurants in Mission Beach are surrounded with TV's and run happy hour until late.
