Free Beach Yoga Anyone?

Daily Beach Yoga Classes Available Now!

Did you know there is daily Yoga on the beach at 11am here in Mission Beach?

Well there is! (Weather permitting)

It is located off of Mission Blvd. at the end of Ormond Court right on the sand! No need to pay any membership fee, nor will you need any yoga mat or experience to join. As long as you have a beach towel/blanket, water to drink and an open heart you will be ready to go. We've tried this class ourselves and can confidently say it is a wonderful and inexpensive way to spend any morning here in Mission Beach!

The class is mixed with locals and vacationers alike, and has been a daily part of our community for over six years. The class style during the week is a calming traditional Hatha, which incorporates general body movement at a meditative pace while taking note of the present moment and sensations that surround you. The weekend class style is a Vinyasa that awakens the body in a quicker paced flow that incorporate a cardiovascular component while moving through traditional yoga sequences. The beauty of both styles is that so many variations are available to accommodate any level of practice.

There are 5 different instructors who teach throughout each week and all have something special to bring to each class. Classes are free or donation based. They accept donations via cash or Venmo and any amount is welcomed.

(Donation is not required, but encouraged for all wanting to show their appreciation to the instructor.)

For Anyone Looking to Enhance Their Surf Skills

Have you ever wanted to learn to surf?

We'd like to introduce Brian P Shohet, who offers both private one-on-one surf lessons and small group lessons here in Mission Beach. Brian will meet you at your vacation rental or right out on the beach, whichever you prefer. He supplies the wetsuits and surfboards. He will give you the hands on training to make sure you get up and have a blast. He works with both kids and adults so the whole family has a chance to improve their skills.

Brian's background: He is a "surf therapist" who brings a surfing program into treatment centers for people struggling with addiction. He not only teaches surfing but also incorporates mental health concepts in the area of addiction, anxiety, PTSD, food eating disorders, alcoholism etc. for those in need.

In our experience working with Brian over the years, we have received numerous great reviews on his behalf. We love what he stands for and are always impressed with the progress his students make both on the board and off!

The conditions of the Mission Beach Villas rental agreement must be agreed upon and signed at the time of reservation. The rental agreement includes a fully refundable $500 deposit to cover potential damage and/or theft.

The winner is subject to choosing accommodations based on open availability from the following one-bedroom listings found on our business website: Mavericks, Atomic, Tiki, Tommy, Beach Shag and Surf Shack.

This accommodation can only be selected during our off-peak months Sept-May and excludes on-peak months Jun-Aug. The dates may be selected within a Sun-Thur range, weekend nights and holiday weekends excluded.

The promoter reserves the right to cancel or amend the competition and these terms and conditions without notice in the event of a catastrophe, war, civil or military disturbance, act of God or any actual or anticipated breach of any applicable law or regulation or any other event outside of the promoter’s control. Any changes to the competition will be notified to entrants as soon as possible by the promoter.

What to Expect in San Diego Right Now - Vacationing During Covid-19

As of today March 17 ^th , there are many fun activities to be enjoyed safely throughout San Diego County. All outdoors sports and activities are available for enjoyment as well as various indoor establishments to be operating at limited capacity. All beaches are open for swimming, surfing, volleyball or simply soaking up the rays. The bay is also open and currently allows considerable activities such as paddleboarding, kayaking, boating and jet skiing. Bicycling, boarding, skating and strolling on the boardwalk is also welcome. Picnicking, basketball and playtime at the local parks are other family friendly options as well. Equipment rental shops are available as well as watersport lessons can be scheduled. These are just a few of the many exciting things to do while here!

In regard to restaurants, the majority of them are open for take out and many for outdoor dining between 5am-10pm with newly extended patio space to accommodate. This year has taught us that eating outdoor can be an often overlooked luxury that we San Diegans love to enjoy with our beautiful weather! However, if you do prefer to eat indoors San Diego has begun to allow restaurants to operate at 25% indoor capacity.

Face coverings are still required in public places by law. However, people are not required to wear one while performing physical activities such as swimming, walking, hiking, running or bicycling as long as you’re not within 6 feet of someone from outside your household. It is strongly suggested that everyone keep a face mask readily available to use when coming in contact with others at less than a 6-foot distance to keep others safe. It is required to be worn when entering any establishment or restaurant, however once seated at a table you are welcome to remove it while dining.

Currently San Diego is operating in the less restrictive Red Tier of a safe reopening plan. The CA Department of Public Health recently re-evaluated the reopening qualifications with regard to reaching the Vaccine Equity Metric goal of 2 million statewide vaccinations. Along with this Red Tier change comes the limited reopening of indoor museums, aquariums, movie theaters, gyms, salons and more. As you can see, there is a plethora of fun to be had for solo, couples and family adventures alike.

So, Waikiki when you can San Diego? ;-)

A Vacation in the Life of A Vlogger Who Loves Mission Beach Villas

We loved hosting this popular video blogger Clintus from Arizona with his happy family of 4 in 2019. He enjoyed staying at one of our properties so much, he returned with his family in 2020 to stay in another and claims to want to spend this summer with us again! Wow!

Check out some of the 'vlogs' he created while on both of his family vacations at two of our Mission Beach rental properties below. Overall he highlights the two properties he's experienced so far. He also reviews the walkability to various activities and a few of our restaurant recommendations in the area.
